In an effort to assist local and regional business to launch or expand, the (IECE) at California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) was selected in 2006 by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to establish a second Women’s Business Center program to be located in the Coachella Valley.
Prior to his current position as Director of CVWBC, Angel Cardoz worked for the Inland Empire Women's Business Center, where he counseled over 400 clients and trained more than 1,200 participants. In addition to counseling and training, Angel implemented several entrepreneurial programs which resulted in new jobs created, approved loans, businesses started, and jobs retained.
- Angel Cardoz holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing, a second Bachelor's Degree in Spanish, and is working towards his Masters of Business Administration. Angel is passionate about micro-enterprise and their contribution to the local and national economy, and stands by the CVWBC's mission to counsel, teach, encourage and inspire women business owners at every stage of development and expansion.
- Kim Scanlan had a thirty year career in the hospitality industry, twenty-five of it serving as the manager of a fine dining restaurant in Anchorage, Alaska. In addition, she has been employed in industries such as life and health insurance, global shipping, air conditioning, and accounting.
Kimberly has been employed at CVWBC since March of 2007, first as an administrative assistant, and currently serves as training coordinator.
